Several years ago Hannah Timmons and partner, Paige Harris, moved on to Hannah’s family farm, a former cotton plantation, to make a documentary about the past, present, and future of Inglewood Farm in Central Louisiana - a leader in sustainable agriculture in the region. But when a friendship developed between Hannah and John Ashley Jr. the film changed course. John grew up on Inglewood during its phasing out of sharecropping, and the beginning of its mechanized, conventional operations. “Mr. Ashley Lived Here” is a collection of stories from his life and from other members of the sharecropping community that lived and worked on Inglewood Plantation from the 1930’s to the 1960’s. Their poignant stories are brought to life through live action interviews and hand drawn animation.

“There’s a lot of things you wouldn’t imagine. But we went through it. We went through it.”
